Ralph Bickham.
A first-generation attorney and firm owner helping others find their direction.

Practicing since 2006.
Still building forward.
Ralph Bickham founded Bickham Law in New Orleans in 2006. As its managing attorney, he represents individuals, families, and businesses across Louisiana in personal injury, bankruptcy, family law, white collar defense, and business matters.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Dillard University and his Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center. Admitted to the Louisiana bar in April 2006, he practices in state and federal courts, including Louisiana’s three federal district courts and the Fifth Circuit.

First-generation attorney & firm owner
I opened my practice
the day after I was sworn in.
I’m a first-generation attorney, and I started my own practice immediately after entering the profession. I was learning how to practice law and how to run a business at the same time.
There were ups and downs in finding clients, and the income was not consistent. I did not have ready access to the forms I needed. I was also learning about billing and navigating the procedures of courts and clerk’s offices.
Those were practical, everyday questions: Where do clients come from? How do I charge for my work? Where do I find the right forms? How does this court or clerk’s office handle a particular procedure?
That experience is part of the perspective I bring to LPOCG. I understand the questions that can follow the excitement of being sworn in—and the work involved in turning a license to practice into an operating law firm.
Through coaching, consulting, and practical education, I want to give other attorneys a place to work through those questions, plan their next steps, and build the business behind their practice.
A place to ask
the next question.
Starting a legal career, leaving a firm, and building a practice each require different decisions. Coaching creates space to work through those decisions with someone who has built and managed a law firm.
LPOCG welcomes law students, newly admitted attorneys, first-generation attorneys, women attorneys, and lawyers preparing for their next stage of ownership.

So does having a place to ask.
Ralph’s story gives LPOCG a practical starting point: the day after admission can bring business questions alongside legal responsibilities. Client development, billing, practice resources, and court or clerk procedures were part of his own early experience.
Start with the real situation.
A conversation can begin with the question that is slowing you down, whether it concerns your direction, a recurring process, or the move into ownership.
Respect different paths.
A newly admitted attorney and a lawyer leaving an established firm bring different strengths and support needs. Coaching begins with those differences.
Connect reflection with action.
LPOCG’s coaching packages create a structure for priorities, a written plan, and follow-up conversations. Custom engagements address defined projects or preparation needs.
