    Preparing to present
    in the courtroom.

Define a focused rehearsal and feedback engagement around your preparation and delivery.

    ← All articles

Trial-preparation coaching offers a setting to practice how you present, organize your preparation, and receive focused feedback. It can be useful for attorneys seeking an outside perspective on delivery or a more deliberate rehearsal process.

This includes women attorneys handling criminal matters, newer advocates developing courtroom confidence, and experienced attorneys who want to refine a particular presentation. The work is tailored to the agreed goal and available preparation time.

Define the work before the session

    • Which presentation or preparation task needs attention?
    • What would you like feedback on: clarity, organization, pacing, or delivery?
    • What materials would need advance review, and how much preparation is involved?
    • What timing, follow-up, or onsite support would the engagement require?

A custom proposal identifies the preparation, rehearsal, review, and fee. The attorney retains responsibility for the representation and legal decisions; coaching does not by itself establish a co-counsel or court-appearance arrangement.

  • Building a Clearer Client Intake Process

    Articles / Firm Operations

    A clearer client
    intake process.

Follow an inquiry through your office and identify where a more consistent process would help.

    ← All articles

A prospective client may call, email, or arrive through a referral. What happens afterward depends on the people and processes you put in place. Reviewing that path can reveal unanswered messages, repeated questions, unclear responsibilities, or work that has no owner.

LPOCG can help you examine the business workflow around intake and client communication. The focus is on organizing the experience and identifying where a more consistent process would help.

    Walk through one inquiry

    • Who receives the inquiry, and how is it recorded?
    • Who follows up, and how do they know that follow-up is needed?
    • How are consultations scheduled and the next steps explained?
    • Where does responsibility move from one person or system to another?
    • How do you see which inquiries still need a decision?

Bring a description of the process rather than client-identifying information to an introductory call. Detailed document or system review can be addressed within a separately agreed engagement.

  • From Law Firm to Practice Owner

    Articles / Practice Ownership

    From law firm
    to practice owner.

Plan for the support, systems, and responsibilities behind an independent practice.

    ← All articles

At an established firm, many business functions sit behind the legal work: inquiries reach the right person, matters are opened, invoices are prepared, technology is maintained, and someone keeps track of office administration. Independence brings those decisions closer to you.

Transition coaching creates space to map that change before you are managing every moving part. Your experience is the starting point; the work is deciding which systems, relationships, and resources your own practice will need.

    Build a transition map

    • The practice: the services you intend to offer and the clients you want to reach.
    • The operation: intake, documents, calendaring, billing, technology, and administrative support.
    • The resources: office needs, startup expenses, ongoing costs, and time available for business development.
    • The open questions: departure obligations and other issues to resolve with the appropriate advisers.

You do not need every answer before reaching out. An initial conversation can help define the decisions that belong in a focused launch-planning engagement.

  • Your First 90 Days in Practice

    Articles / Early Practice

    Your first 90 days
    in practice.

Questions and priorities for newly admitted and first-generation attorneys.

    ← All articles

Admission brings a new title and a new set of everyday decisions. You may be learning how to speak with prospective clients, organize work, find useful practice resources, and understand how an office operates—all at once. If you are the first attorney in your family, you may also be building a professional support network from the ground up.

A coaching conversation can begin with the questions that feel too small, too basic, or too difficult to raise elsewhere. The aim is to identify what needs attention now, what requires further research, and where additional support would help.

Bring these questions to the conversation

    • What work do I want to become known for, and what experience do I still need?
    • Which parts of my day lack a repeatable process?
    • Where am I looking for forms, procedural information, and practical guidance?
    • Who can I turn to when a question falls outside my experience?

A useful starting exercise: list three decisions you need to make, three processes you need to understand, and three professional connections you want to develop. That gives your next conversation a clear agenda.
